This is a senior position which requires a highly qualified individual with expertise in Human Resources Management. The successful candidate will report directly to the Registrar and should have a deep understanding and knowledge of University administration and operations.
Applicants must have at least a Masters degree in Human Resources, an Honours Degree in Human Resources Management, IPMZ Diploma or equivalent plus at least five (5) years post qualification experience at managerial level. In addition, the applicant should possess thorough knowledge of Labor Law, arbitration and employee value proposition, strong ethical convictions, a commitment to quality service, experience with office administration and employees’ evaluation as well as the ability to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students and staff.
Reporting to the Registrar, the incumbent shall be responsible for assisting in the following areas
· Developing a Human Resources Strategy for the University;
· Facilitating the recruitment and selection process;
· Formulating and implementing human resources related policies and procedures;
· Overseeing the University’s performance management and promotion systems;
· Supporting current and future University needs through the development, motivation and retention of the human resource
· Providing strategic guidance in respect of Organisational Development and Human Capital Management appropriate to the University’s environment;
· Supporting the training function of the University and developing employee training programmes;
· Ensuring proper Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures are in place in accordance with relevant legislation;
· Ensuring that the University is in compliance with all regulatory frameworks pertaining to labour regulations and that heads of departments are kept up to date with changing labour regulations;
· Coordinating the development and management of the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS);
· Leading and directing the Human Resources team to deliver a comprehensive Human Resources service to the University;
· Instituting cost effective and integrated Human Resource models, processes and systems;
· Providing guidance in labour related matters;
· Servicing Committee Meetings;
· Working in close liaison with the Staff Proctor for an effective staff disciplinary system; and
· Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
